Rare handmade vintage Moroccan berber rug from Beni Mguild in the the Atlas mountains of the Meknes-Tafilalet region, in the north east of Morocco.
This berber wool rug has local tribal patterns and symbols on a background of warm earth colours in shades of brown, orange, beige and yellow. Extraordinary center symbol in bright pink makes this a truly original piece of art.
All our rugs are completely unique and you will not find another one like this in the world. These carpet were most often not made to sell but for home use and the pattern tells the personal life story of the woman who made the rug. The symbols express fertility, sexuality, survival, protection from evil, spiritual beliefs and the nature of rural and nomadic life in the Atlas mountains.
